Thanks to the generous gift from Louisa Stude Sarofim, the composition department offers annual prizes for the best undergraduate and graduate composition each year. Compositions are judged by a panel of professional composers outside the school of music. The winners receive a cash prize and since 2006 have been commissioned to compose a new work for AURA.
