The National Cheer Association has recognized the University of Houston Cheer Teams as National Champions. Each year, the two cheer squads, the co-ed squad and the all-female squad, promote Cougar Spirit around the University. They are the most visible components of the Spirit of Houston. Auditions to be a Cougar Cheerleader are held annually.
