Graduates of the Composition and Music Theory programs at the Moores School of Music have gone on to hold many university teaching positions and have numerous publications to their credit. Students in the composition program receive one-to-one private instruction and attend a weekly composition forum, which combines the study of recent works with visits by guest composers and performers. There are numerous opportunities for performances: Siren, a student run composer's organization, presents four or more concerts of student works each year, and the new Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Ats features classes in which composers can collaborate with students from theatre, dance, visual art and creative writing. Facilities include a state of the art computer lab and electronic music studio.
